Andreas Lorenz (Munchen, Germany)
Everest Base Camp and Island Peak Climb

"We had a very good time with Waypoint Adventures in Nepal. It is a very reliable and honest trekking and peak climbing company, which provides and organizes for you everything what you want. Mr. Tshering Sherpa, the owner of the company, and Mr. Sanjay Kharel have been very concerned about our well - doing and enjoying all the time, we spent in Nepal. Our trekking and peak climbing guide, Mr. Dawa Sherpa, who works for Waypoint Adventures, is a very experienced mountaineer, who cared about everything during our stay in Solu - Khumbu. He knows the way to peaks like Island Peak, Pokalde, Lobuche East, Mera Peak etc. very well and led me save to the summit of Island Peak and back.

He was always very concerned about the safety of the whole group, especially in terms of high altitude sickness, technical climbing-difficulties and exhaustion.
We got the chance not only to experience the highest mountains of the world, but also to get to know the way of live of Nepali and especially Sherpa people.
We are very grateful to our friends of Waypoint Adventures in Nepal and recommend this Trekking company for the very best. For further information just contact me in Germany to get some more details about Waypoint Adventures and our trip to Everest Base Camp and Island Peak"

Tent camp trek to Makalu BC

"In my experience this is one of the best trekking companies in Nepal."

"They share the philosophy of hiring and training top-notch people."

"... equipment is first class."

"Our Sirdar was knowledgeable and very competent as a leader, and he is now a great friend. The cook we had on our trek was a magician on a two-burner stove. Tshering has extensive experience as a Sirdar that shows in his organization and planning. Tshering is so personable that we feel that we are part of his family, too. I am planning to go trekking with them again next year."

"What really sets Hotel Ganesh Himal apart from many of the hotels in which we've stayed is the management and staff. Mukhiya Gurung has hired and trained a wonderful group of people to staff his hotel. They always seem to be available, but they never are intrusive. They are invariably polite with the most genuine and sunny smiles I have ever seen. No request seems too difficult or too trivial for them. Their English is good, in some cases excellent."

"The kitchen is open all of the time. They can produce an excellent breakfast, a Nepali, Indian or a Western meal or a light snack and drinks all day or all night. The rooms all are open and airy. They all have Western-style bathrooms with showers and tubs and plenty of hot water. The rooms always are immaculately clean."

"This was our third trip to Nepal. I think that it was one of the best trips we've had in large part because of the Hotel Ganesh Himal and its staff."

Darrell & Tamara Horst (Vancouver, BC. Canada)
Lodge Trek to Everest BC

"I would like to take this opportunity to rave about our lodge trek to Everest base camp last fall in Oct/01. From the moment my husband & I landed in Kathmandu and saw Jayaram's smiling face waiting for us, till he saw us back to that plane 21 days later, we felt like one of the family and in good hands! The Hotel Ganesh Himal was so convenient to all the sightseeing/shopping and yet far enough away to be quiet. The staff were lovely! So ready to help in any way they could."

"Jayaram was our guide with his brother Kaggie as our porter. We cannot say enough about those two! Jayaram was always so concerned with our health and when we both experienced some problems with AMS, he knew what to do and changed our itinerary accordingly. Always looking out for us, filling us in with local knowledge and showing genuine care and attention beyond the call of duty made us feel we were leaving a brother behind when the time came to leave. Although we had trained physically very hard for this trip, we were astounded by how the altitude takes its toll on your body. But we made it! And it was worth every difficult moment!"

"We recommend Waypoint Adventures as a very professional company to deal with, as well as The Hotel Ganesh Himal and of course Jayaram & Kaggie. Please feel free to email me with any questions/concerns, I would be happy to respond! PS. I have some great photos as well!"

Jomsom Lodge Trek

"We were very pleased with the services of Jayaram Magar as guide on our trek from Besi Sahar to Jomsom. He was helpful and knowledgeable. He was respectful of the trekker's need for privacy, but was always willing to share information when requested. We liked his personality and enjoyed having him on our trek. In all our dealings with him we found him to be honest."

"We recommend Jayaram to any others planning to trek in Nepal."

Christie & Mark Guttridge (Boulder, Colorado)
Lodge trekking in the Annapurna foothills

"My college age son, Mark, and I returned in December 2001 from a fabulous 3-week vacation in Nepal. We put ourselves in the hands of Waypoint Adventures Travel group and it turned out to be the best vacation of a lifetime. It was my lucky day to discover this group through my search on the Internet sight go2nepal.com. After almost 2 years of emails we developed a family relationship and our dream came true when we got to meet our friends in person. Everyone spoke English so fluently in hotels, shops, and restaurants, we learned very little Nepalese. Our hotel accommodations in both Kathmandu and Pokhara were very nice with private baths and great food and staff. It was nice to have the same guide for both city tours and mountain trekking because we developed a true friendship."

"The mountain trek in the Annapurna region was way beyond my expectations. Hiking from village to village we got to see the countryside with a backdrop of 8000-meter mountains. Staying in guesthouses at night, we enjoyed meeting the families who owned them plus visiting with other guests from around the world. I was surprised at the extent and variety of menu items offered in the mountains. We really liked the home cooked meals. Perhaps it was a mild season in November & December, but I was not expecting such warm short sleeve weather and such lush vegetation in the mountains. The scenery was fantastic!"

"Having all arrangements in Nepal made by Waypoint Adventures at such a reasonable price, made this a leisurely and affordable vacation. We are finitely planning a return trip with other members of our family. Thank you to all the people we met in Nepal who welcomed us into their homes and lives."

Will Hulst (Bergschenhoek, Holland)
Tent camp trek on Everest"

We, my son of 30, 3 friends with their spouses (all between 53 and 57) and myself (59) did a camping trek of 17 days with Waypoint Adventure in April this year. We started in Lukla and ended on the Kalapathar (5545 meters), a mountain opposite the Mount Everest. From this mountain one has the most magnificent view over a number of very high mountains such as the Chumbu (6859 meters, the Pumo Ri (7165 meters) The Nupse (7815 meters), the Mount Everest (8848 meters) and the Lhotse (8516 meters)."

"... We started to plan our trek more then a year ahead. We worked with Waypoint to get a good itinerary, we made sure we knew what equipment and clothing we needed so we did not have to buy at the last minute and what could be bought in Kathmandu we did buy there. It is cheaper in Kathmandu and it helps the economy there. The US$ is very strong and therefore quite cheap in Kathmandu. Almost anything can be bought in Kathmandu. Waypoint sent us a list of equipment and clothing we should think of, medical equipment for first aid and some medicines that could be helpful in case of light illnesses."

"... We have experienced Waypoint to be a reliable company that delivers what they promise. Their staff was great, very friendly and caring. The Guide Sherpa we had (Lakpha Sherpa is his name) is one of the most caring persons I have met in my life. I travel to all continents for my work and have met a lot of people in my life and I can honestly say that he has stolen my heart. He really cared for our health and helped us to get on top of that mountain. He always noticed when we were tired and slowed down the pace. He knows how to make you smile even when you are in pain."

"... I know that there are many people that offer to organize a trek to the Mount Everest. Many of these companies do not own any equipment and have to rent that from other companies so they can not control the quality. Many do not have porters or guides under contract and hire these from the street so to speak. I know from experience that Waypoint have good equipment, guides, cooking staff and porters on their pay roll, they are experienced and can be trusted. They organize every detail you ask for. If you need or want to make changes, even during your trek, they do this."

Armand Dirks (Holland)
Trekking Guide - World Explorer

"As a Himalayan trekking guide I have been working in Nepal for 5 years now. During my first visit to Nepal I met Mr. Mukhiya Gurung, the manager of the Ganesh Himal Hotel in Kathmandu. We became good friends. Year after year I returned to my second home and family. And I still do. If you're interested in visiting one of the greatest countries on our planet, you consider staying at the Ganesh Himal Hotel as well. For just a few weeks, become part of the Nepali culture, the amazing hospitality and the unforgettable friendships."

"If you have any doubts or questions, don't hesitate to contact me for a second opinion... I'll be glad to answer your questions!"

Annapurna Tent Camping Trek

"I just wanted to let you know what a great job Tshering and the whole staff at Waypoint Adventures did on our trek in December 2000. My wife and I have trekked in Nepal before but on this trip we took our children (ages 10 and 14). Naturally we were very concerned about their safety and comfort. However, with Tshering in charge our concerns were quickly put to rest. Daily itineraries were adjusted to fit our needs, the food was great and Devon and Ben had the experience of a lifetime. Ben treasures the kukuri Tshering gave him. Mukhiya and the staff at Hotel Ganesh Himal were friendly and eager to please and the new building looks like it will be fantastic. Thanks for a wonderful holiday."

Isabel & Corey Scobie (Arlington, MA)
Everest Region Lodge Trek

"I cannot adequately put into words the amazing experience that we just had in Nepal. Everything was perfect and we felt so well taken care of from the moment we arrived in Kathmandu and were met at the airport (after 30+ hours of travel!), until our departure 3 weeks later. Jayaram was the best guide that anyone could have and I cried as we left Lukla and our little "family" that we had become so fond of during our trek through the Khumbu region. We met other trekkers along the way that had decided to forego the services of a guide and it was obvious what they were missing out on, even to them, as Jayaram answered our many questions about the culture, flora, fauna and just basically took care of us. His sage advice on avoiding altitude symptoms and his attention to our itinerary resulted in a healthy, successful trip. Our porters, Kulkumar and Antalal, were also a lot of fun and helped to pass time in the lodges and on the trail. Even before we left Nepal we decided to return in the spring of 2003 to do a "real" climb and we will definitely be using Waypoint for that adventure."

Annapurna Circuit Trek

"Thank you so much for my Annapurna Circuit trek. I am extremely grateful for the professionalism of your guide and porter, particularly my guide Jayaram Regmi Magar. He looked after my every need, from showing me what to eat, advice on how to avoid and deal with AMS, if I looked like I was about to fall he would be there to catch me. I felt so comfortable and safe and not once did I feel in danger. I will remember my time in Nepal with long lasting good memories thanks to all at Waypoint Adventures. Thank you most kindly. Hope to see you soon. Namaste."

Everest Region Lodge Trek

"My wife and I started shopping for an adventure travel company that would take us to Nepal and trekking in the Himalayas, but what we found was either too costly or too commercial or both. What we wanted was the security of an American based company and the flavor of a Nepal based company. That's when we found Waypoint Adventures. Wow, what a difference! The knowledge, the attitude, the love for the people and the country was evident right from the start. From beginning to the end we felt as if we were family and treated as such. Tshering Sherpa was our guide up to Gokyo Ri for a two week trek. We had two porters, Ganesh and Santa, who were excellent. I could say so much about how beautiful Nepal and the people are, but you already know this. I would like to stress how safe and secure my wife and I felt during our trek. Tshering Sherpa is a very rare and special person. His personality is soft and easy going with a quick wit and a sharp smile. He takes his job seriously, and your comfort is his number priority."

"When our twenty month old son is a bit older, we will certainly go back. Our son, I would like to add, was conceived in the rarified air of Nepal. So, if any of you out there are thinking of having children, get yourself to Nepal with Waypoint Adventures."

Annapurna Sanctuary & Everest Lodge Treks

"I have completed two treks with Waypoint Adventures: The Annapurna Sanctuary and the Mt. Everest region trek to Thyangboche -- both were absolutely wonderful experiences. I found both treks to be chalnd they ordered and paid a taxi to take us to the airport for our way back home. We were content with everybody helping us to have a beautiful and interesting stay in Nepal, and, as far as we can judge, the price was o.k. as well."

Peggy Kwan & Shirley Tsui (Hong Kong)
Nepal Pilgrimage Tour

"We have come back to a more hectic life in Hong Kong. Nepal is certainly a more relaxing and friendly environment. Shirley and I had a break and a good time there."

"Waypoint and Mukhiya helped us to tailor make our own holiday and itinerary. The schedule was changed 3 times before we partook in the trip, and then it was modified again, according to our taste, during the trip. So I think you guys are very helpful and flexible. Lakpa and Indra were excellent throughout and they really looked after us well. The highlight of the trip for me was trekking and the retreat. I would like to do it again in the future."

"I would like to come again to take a closer look at the Himalayas."

Tibet Tour & Jomsom Lodge Trek

"Tshering, Sanjay and all the people at Hotel Ganesh Himal succeeded in creating a friendly atmosphere while providing professional and experienced assistance."

"During the trek, Tshering proved to be an able, professional and reliable guide. Again, he took care of everything, and we were welcome everywhere we went. In addition, he showed a sensibility and understanding of our western culture and needs, which we highly appreciated. All this contributed to make the trip a wonderful experience, and we can strongly recommend Waypoint Adventures."
